Congrats, and keep fighting for those "Trains in Maine" (LD's).
Jeff Sessions, Trump's AG appointee, was a huge "debt hawk" as a senator, and no friend of Amtrak's especially as regards appropriations. Suspect he will hurt Amtrak much less as AG.
Couldn't the "A-Line" be used in a pinch? What about the Florida Northern through Williston?
Not much detail here:

About 25 miles from me on the S-Line.
Title of this thread jogged my memory a bit. I seem to recall, going into the "wayback machine," the LIRR used to run "Fall Foliage Tours." I'm talking in the 50's and 50's now, and I believe they were weekend excursions to Planting Fields Arboretum and Bayard Cutting Arboretum. ...
Yep, my old house (1959-1964) off to the left at 180-01 93rd Avenue. Between Jamaica Ave. and the railroad tracks. I spent my college years (lived at home) being serenaded by the sound of freight cars being humped at Holban Yard all night. Would say our house was about 200 yards N. of the main line....
I've got 25,000 AGR points, and was thinking about doing Palatka, FL to Salt Lake City, UT and return next year. What would that routing be like?
I could also drive to New Orleans, and use that as my starting point if more feasible/cheaper.
More likely borrowed power.
Just got back from a rail trip from Palatka, FL to Saratoga for the races. Going up, I rode the Meteor and Ethan Allan direct to Saratoga Springs. Meteor was late (of course), but Ethan Allan was perfectly run and on-time. I can attest to the fact that on Tues., 8/9, there were not a lot of passenge...
How many sleepers in the consist lately, and are they front or back?
Also, I'm in car 9811, Room 002. Does that tell me anything about which sleeper I'm in?
I'm going up to Saratoga for a week by train from Florida the second week of August. I decided to book the trip to Albany instead of trying for tix on the Adirondack or Ethan Allen. Works out fine, as it's easy to rent a car in Albany for the last 30 miles, and I'd like to tool around with a rental ...
Thanks, guys - I thought it had been downgraded recently.
I made arrangements with the Palatka Police Dept. to park my old Mazda in a safe spot right opposite the Police Station for a week. Did it once before, and had no problem. They claim they will safeguard it for me.
I haven't used it in a few years; can anyone tell me what the long-term parking situation is and whether or not the station building is still open?
