Going back to when Government Center station was "Scollay Square", and the "Brattle Square" station was still in use, and the Adams Square station still existed. What trains ran on the Brattle Square loop adjacent to the Scollay Square station? Where did they come from? Looking ...

Kind of ironic that the Montreal Metro and the Paris Metro subway systems use "rubber tired vehicles" on their subway trains. Are they banned from discussion on Railroad.Net?

But there is no corresponding westbound connection You're right. If a Green Line branch were built from here to Everett/Chelsea, then the inbound leg of the new line would have to either dip under or fly over the GLX mainline. My idea for a flyover for the inbound leg is shown in yellow: https://li...

My understanding is that because Cambridge St. was roughly doubled in width in the 60s, all the utilities are on one side and the other side is relatively clear underneath. Cambridge Street was widened to its current width in the 1920s. There were small adjustments done to the width in the 60's whe...

What bothers me about this layout is: How would a further Blue Line extension to Kenmore Square (along the Charles River) fit into this?

Was it worth the project overspend? What would the fare need to be in order to recoup the project costs? The GLX project cut costs from the original design by simplifying the design of the stations and other cost-cutting changes. Any project that requires this many walls and bridge modifications is...

The GLX line to Tufts (and beyond) had been officially planned starting in 1945. The original plan did not include the branch to Union Square. So it's been in the works since WW II and it's great to see it built in my lifetime - I'm 71.

They should show the Union Square GLX branch as longer, ending a little further to the left. It would show up better that way and be more accurate.

Establishing new trackless trolley lines on streets is pretty much impossible because of public opposition to new overhead lines. They may be possible on separated bus-only routes, but not on existing streets.

Correction: It was Eastern Mass Street Railway busses I used to see in Medford Square back in the early 1960's, not Middlesex and Boston.
