Re: SEPTA's New Schedules For August 5 (Or Did SEPTA Discover Time Travel)

The trains deadhead from Marcus Hook to Wilmington. Likewise, trains arriving Wilmington deadhead to Marcus Hook at select times. Was there a particular reason why Wilmington is denied more frequent revenue service in the reverse direction? Is this DART's move or SEPTA's or a joint effort or part o...

Re: The Atlantic City Line Thread

Regarding the Cherry Hill station, noticed the location is poorly accessible. It is located in the back of a ShopRite (behind the loading docks of all places). And there seems to be no direct pedestrian connection to the Market Place at Garden State Park development built on the former racetrack, w...

Re: The Atlantic City Line Thread

A "rust breaker" train was shuttling between Pennsauken TC and Atlantic City Tuesday with GP40PH-2B 4216 and cab car 6016 , crossing Park Ave, Pennsauken, at 1:41. It departed Pennsauken TC southbound at 1:52 . I saw the rust breaker train again this morning heading non-stop towards Pennsauken. I h...

Re: one-way ticket expires the same day

I've bought tickets recently and have seen no indications of this expiration. I suspect Literalman misinterpreted some message in the payment process, or some such. Check again next time. I believe that it's optional to select and view expiration details when purchasing the ticket. It does not pop ...

Re: one-way ticket expires the same day

It may have a valid explanation but the machines are misleading at best. At worst, it is a hint that policy shift may be forthcoming. I tried to buy a round trip recently at my station and machine told me it had a validity period of a year. I double checked the printed schedule which indicates the p...

Re: Philadelphia Eagles Victory Parade - 2/8/2018

It seems like SEPTA won't be maximizing use of the entire fleet for this one day. Instead they are maxing out stations based on parking capacity and then shutting down and idling the equipment and facilities. While the trains will be packed from the stations that will be open, this is very ineffect...

Re: Philadelphia Eagles Victory Parade - 2/8/2018

Looks like another viable option is drive to the Airport, Park, and hop a train into center city. That looks like the only line maintaining inbound and outbound service. Option 2 is drive to Trenton or Exton and take Amtrak I also thought about taking the Airport Line, but SEPTA is only running hou...

Re: Philadelphia Eagles Victory Parade - 2/8/2018

Option 2 is drive to Trenton (...) and take Amtrak Trenton is showing as $ 62 (one way in) already, and while supplies last. Amtrak keystones are sold out. Amtrak from Wilmington and Trenton are available, but super expensive. I was going to gamble two weeks ago and buy $23 tickets for Tuesday from...

Re: Silverliner Vs Out of Service - Schedule/Service Discuss

Why can't design & ordering of passenger cars be standardized across the various NE carriers? Seems kind of silly and expensive that everyone orders their own designs from different manufacturers. Will Hyundai ever be trusted again? 1. Politics 2. Bid specifications. Size of the jobs vary, and diff...

On BROAD CITY tonight! First five minutes show Abbi and Ilana took the amtrak (is there a similar thread on Amtrak forum?) from Penn Sta to 30th St and then switched to the R5 (may it be forever so called) to WAYNE to see Abbi's dad. In true SEPTA fashion, the train they were to board had the wrong ...

Business class upgrade for long distance incurs addtl costs

Tried booking business class from PHL-WAS and roomette from WAS-ABQ This booking would cost $134 ABOVE coach class whereas the value of the whole business class ticket is $134 from PHL-WAS, and a coach ticket is $54 (in this example). Shouldn't Amtrak be charging close to $60 for the upgrade ($134-$...

Re: Pope Service on ACL and NEC (with Connecting Pope Servic

9 trains are running per day inbound, between 6 am and 2pm. Will the return trips be first come first served? $30 per round trip is reasonable, only a 50% mark-up from the usual $20. (A one way trip is penalized more significantly.) As others have indicated, an intermediate stop at Cherry Hill or Pe...
