Shore Junctions

I know that Wildwood Junction is a popular topic most of the time, but what about the others? I believe many spurred of the Reading and PRR long ago to many shore communities. Is there anything worth checking out if anything even remains? Like for instance, Sea Isle City. You could see where it came...

Crossover of Reading and PRR lines in Cape May County Courthouse

I have always been interested in this. I know there is a middle township bike path and it intersects with the old Reading line. Was this a diamond back in the day or a bridge crossing of one over the other?

Re: Passing of Noel Weaver

Very sorry news. He answered many of my questions over the years on numerous topics. A wealth of “old school” knowledge. He will be missed, RIP and Thank You!

Re: Coastal Starlight Train 11 stuck in Oregon since Sunday

Question about this situation. What does or did the engineer do this whole time? I know his cab is kind of roomy but did he actually spend the entire time there? I assume he can't leave or was he able to leave the engine unattended? This topic came up in discussion and nobody quite knew. Conditions ...

30th Street station book

After numerous google searches and discussion with some other railfans, we can’t seem to find any books or picture books on 30th street staion in Philly. Does anyone know of any? There is a lot of history there regarding the construction and everything else. There are definitely books out there on o...

Old Amtrak Silver Star Routing/Equipment

It just hit me to ask about the routing and equipment I had taken back in the day. Trip 1 was the Silver Star in January 1986. Taken from Newark NJ to Ocala FL. I remember the buffet car where we picked out our food, paid for it and then someone would take it to the table for us. Would this be somet...

Orange Juice train

Is it back? I can somewhat remember reading it was done. I caught the last three cars going over the Susquehanna from Havre De Grace into Perryville the other day.

Perryville MD this late afternoon

Coming home tonight, I noticed a long work train with tons of rails on open cars idling on the Port Deposit line along the river. Loud, noisey as hell. What exactly are they doing? I have never seen a train with all that rail ever. A couple workers are actually sitting atop of this train. This is goi...

1941 routing question

I was tracing some old B&O ROWs via Google maps and saw in 1941, a route headed west diverged just before the Cumberland MD station. (Forgive me for not remembering which, but this diverging ROW is still there). My question is would a train from DC enter Cumberland MD and not stop at the station? Un...

Any reasons why Palmetto is late coming into Baltimore going Southbound? Silver Meteor is running more than an hour Northbound also.

Erie painted loco questions

At approx. 5:45 this morning I caught a early morning train on the Port Road going through Perryville on its way to the NEC. It had a NS loco leading, a cool looking Erie painted loco (silver, blue, yellow) was second, and then another NS loco. It had very few cars. Usually these trains have a 100+ ...

3 engine lash-up on Port Road last week

Last Saturday I was looking out my back window in Perryville MD during that monster snowstorm when I heard and saw 3 NS engines head toward the NEC somewhere between 4-5 pm. They headed back up about 45 min later. Were they there to clean snow off the track? Or were they for something else? Thanks.

Tropicana OJ train question

On Aug 18, 2015, at approx. 6AM, I observed a train just going over the bridge from Perryville MD to Havre De Grace MD. This train had 2 engines and approx.18 Tropicana cars. I usually see the 100+ Tropicana train every so often. What was the reason for this small Tropicana train???

Tampa to St. Petersburg

I was just wondering about the routing of this train when it went to St. Pete from Tampa. Was there a through track at Tampa? I tried to follow Google Maps and it gets a bit confusing as there is a bridge that goes over the Bay right by the station. Or did it follow a different ROW? Also trains back...
