Re: Haverhill Line Upgrade Discussion (Western Route)

Hate to burst the bubble here. Ballardvale is not the only issue on the Western Route. Stations on ONE side and not on both main lines east of Ballardvale creates a choke point. It is basically single track for the Commuter train perspective. So Salem is not close to a comparison.

Re: MBTA Chargers

The two MP36s are lemons.

Talk is we are getting 5 Chargers for a test. Siemens will do the maintenance, all we will do is put the fuel in them. They are IDOT locomotives we are getting, they should be here sometime soon. The talk was for the end of the year.

nstalled. Part B: These are secret stairs. Anyone walking to the south (to the right in this photograph) on the center platform will not see these stairs unless they are explicitly looking for them. There are no signs facing the oncoming pedestrians that these are the only stairs to westbound green...

I have never seen a ballast cleaner on the property. The other benefit of that machine removes excess ballast for the tie and surfacing jobs. The railroad gets higher over the years.

Faded passes cannot be reissued once the next month sales have started. No. The interzone fare does work in Zone 1A. You need to pay the full Zone 3 fare.

I feel like they along with the ticket checkers also escalated the situation be refusing to look at the ticket closer / validating it and simply telling this guy you can't board. Go to the ticket counter and get a new ticket. Faded passes cannot be reissued once the next month sales have started.

Re: Number of crew vs. number of open coaches

I have had an issue with a similar timed early off-peak train with crowding. But the issue was people spreading out and taking up several seats themselves. I never want to cram people into a train. But the train is also not designed to carry everyone in their own seat. If people are 3 across I think...

Is it up to the head conductor if they want to open up the whole train or block of cars if they are short staffed? Crew of one. Head car or more as the Conductor feels they need and can safely operate. Crew of two. Six car open. Crew of three. All cars. This is only at rush hour. Off peak the two c...

There is an agreement for a limited amount of PAR locos to get the PTC set up, not all of them.

Re: Electronic Display Signs on CR Coaches

Displays in the 900's may be a secondary priority to getting the cab-active 1600's equipped with the ASA computer to complete the fleetwide installations. Having whole-train remainders without any working ASA is a bigger accessibility issue than having individual cars without the displays, since th...
