I have heard from a reliable source that 611 will return to service. 611 did blow its Main generator and had some flames shoot out from some bearings. Metra has not been properly maintaning 611 and 614 since they have returned to revenue service last year and this is the result. 611 has been sent to...
Hi F40C fan start a you tube page the videos are not screened and dont have to be approved. Its also free and just takes a few minutes to sign up. I would love to see your videos we need more F40C footage.
Its really sad to see them sitting down in East St. Louis. Metra could defanatly use them. Today 3/25/09 611 was on train # 2141 to Fox Lake and returining on 2156 and out on 2157 and tied up in Fox Lake for the night.
611 has been runing on its own since Monday Mar 23rd. It has been on the North line on train # 2137 on Monday and Tuesday. It looks really good to see it runing on its own just like the old days! Go F40C
611 was on the North line today trailing 112 on train 2143 It looks and sounds great I saw it at north Glenview. Just to bad its not in the lead where it belongs.
I am aware that Metra owns the Milwaukee north line from Canal St to Rondout but it is ran by CP timetable and rules and the CP has dispatching authority Metra does not
But to get back on topic (sort of), I wonder if these officials who were "embarrassed" to let the C's run more regularly are the same ones that let Amtrak 7 suffer behind a Metra 2121 running at a reduced load. Wouldn't be surprised... Those are in fact the same officials indeed. The F40C...
All I have to say is its ironic that this happened on the same day that they put 611 back into storage. 611 was fueled and should have been ready to go but that namless official is so scared that the F40Cs will break down. They will run circles around those things that Metra calls Locomotives. I agr...
I agree that the trains should blow their horns at all grade crossings. It makes people think twice about going around the gates. As a Milw North line fan I have seen many near misses there was one in Northbrook last october wher a kid on a bike went across the pedestrain crossind while the bell was...

There is also an abandoned CNW tunnel in Tunnel city. It is paralel to the active CP ex MILW tunnel and the portals are bricked up at both ends. It has also collapsed and that was the reason the CNW and UP has trackage rights on the CP from Tunnel city to Winona,MN.
I saw the holiday train this year at russel, IL and I thought it looked great.
That is the back end of 610 that one was not sold to Helms and never went to East St. Louis. NRE brought this unit and it has been there ever since.
The 90218 is back and running on the Hiawatha as of today 4-6-07. It looks very good fresh from repaint for the second time in phase 5 I wish it good luck this time around.
