Re: Official New England Southern Thread (NEGS)

On Friday 8/9, the New England Southern Crew took care of business, making their complete 3rd run of the season, departing from their Canterbury World HQ south to Concord, north to Tilton with loads, south to Concord with empties, then north back to Canterbury, light.

Re: Official New England Southern Thread (NEGS)

United Rail seems to be on the prowl to acquire the Saratoga & North Creek line in NY State, and up to other filings with the STB. The seemed a notch slightly above the full fledged scam known as the "Boston Surface Railroad Company" which is going no where fast. Nice to see their shiny yellow locom...

Re: Rail Bikes

Not quite Horseshoe Pond Road, they are running about 1.5 to 2 miles south of the Sewalls Falls Road Crossing. The owner and his family did a great job clearing out their portion of the Northern filled with years of no maintenance, weeds, and downed trees across the tracks. There's no tracks across ...

The New England Southern Crews went north with two loads on Saturday 4/27 and south to Concord with one empty on Sunday 4/28. It does not appear that anything has changed hands..

Re: If you're not doing anything on May 8...

I think that's a splendid idea ! Cleaning up around the tracks in Concord wouldn't be a bad idea either. The first views people see of Concord are that of the garbage piles and the overgrown brush on railroad property next to I-93.

Re: Official New England Southern Thread (NEGS)

It's easy to speculate and guess what the new owners of NEGS are going to do, no one really knows for sure...yet.. The sale has to close first.. I agree with ROCKGUY, no one worked harder to creatively make opportunities happen than Pete, keeping 3M happy, creating 2 Military trains, the recent rail...

Re: Hillsboro Branch

Hello, each bay holds one hopper, and yes the Pan Am crews move cars in and out of there. You may be able to find some pictures on NERAIL of their switching work.

Re: Hillsboro Branch

Hello, Hendrix usually gets covered hoppers. Pan Am Crews go up there almost once a week, and they do the runaround in Wilton. It's not pretty, but they do move along at 5mph or less. Milford Bennington also uses those tracks in warmer weather between Wilton and Granite State Concrete a little ways ...

Re: Official New England Southern Thread (NEGS)

Winter in New Hampshire officially begun last Saturday 12/29/18. That was when the New England Southern Railroad Crews took care of their annual winter ritual by placing an open hopper MOW car at the northern opening of the Merrimack River Bridge in Concord. They placed their other open hopper MOW c...

Re: Plymouth & Lincoln Railroad (HOBO, Winnipesaukee Scenic)

The timing, sadly, could be ripe in the State House with both the NH House & Senate with Democratic majorities to change the statutes, though I think it would be a battle royale. The article in the Laconia Sun was woefully biased to the WOWees and failed to mention that the area impacted would be th...

Re: 2 struck by ‘scenic train’ in Wareham, officials say

The Mainstream media seemed to report with the idea that the train can magically swerve around the unwise and trespassing violators/victims or the train can just 'hit the brake' and stop. I know I am Speaking to the choir here. Late last summer, The reporterette at the only television news organizat...

Re: 2 struck by ‘scenic train’ in Wareham, officials say

What a tragedy, a sad tragedy that didn't need to happen. Kudos to WHDH-TV 7, the dethroned NBC Affiliate, for being the only news gathering organization to have correctly report that the couple was sadly, trespassing on the tracks. Some of the stuff I have read out there in the media was clearly be...

The Passenger / Commuter Rail topic is dead for now. The NH Senate Voted out the 4 million dollar federal grant to study the build out of the project to Manchester.

Re: Official New England Southern Thread (NEGS)

New England Southern made their first round trip run of 2018 going from Canterbury to Concord to Tilton, and back again with two loaded slurry tank cars for 3M in Tilton and taking two empty tank cars back to Concord for interchange with Pan Am. Also the open hopper that guarded the north side of th...

Re: Official New England Southern Thread (NEGS)

NEGS's three open hoppers get some use during the winter.. There's the one that guards the north end of the Merrimack River Bridge in Concord, the second hopper is placed on the south side of the West Road Crossing, just by the NEGS WORLD HEADQUARTERS, and the third is placed at the North End of the...
