Re: Huntington/Port Jeff weekday midday changes

There was very little communication of these schedule changes. They sent an alert at 5:00 a.m. the morning of the schedule change but provided no details or clarification of what was actually changing. The page on the website also didn't mention any of the midday changes, guess they were too busy to...

Re: Ellison Avenue bridge replacement

Piney, you've been complaining about the MTA for years on here. Why haven't you looked into other means of getting around if the MTA is as inept as you say they are.Th e work has to get done and there were public hearings about this. Use a little bit of common sense with this. If it's not one thing...

Re: "Equipment Problems"

The "equipment" could be a late crew member arrival that delays the train, obviously they won't announce that on the PA. Why not? If a late crew member arriving is delaying the train, then say that that's the cause of the delay. Just because the real reason for delay doesn't look good for the railr...

"Equipment Problems"

Thread deleted again!! Must be server issues since there was no explanation why.

Here's a list I found of all of the alerts that mentioned "equipment trouble" in February...see for yourself!

Re: Solari ooopsie! May 8, 2015

This train (#2070) normally stops at Hicksville, Central Islip and Ronkonkoma (with a Greenport connection at Ronkonkoma). For some reason the sign lists all Port Washington branch stops. Careful ADL6009!! You're post isn't portraying the railroad in the most positive light possible! You'll probabl...

Re: How might a broken rail be discovered?

Nobody has come forward with a solitary example of where lirr42 broke forum rules. Just where he disagreed with people. And if he got banned for that, you might as well ban everyone and shut the forum down, since opinions are pretty much all that’s expressed here. I almost never participate on these...

Re: Massapequa and Wantagh Station Renovations

So great to hear, man they completed Phase 1 well before scheduled completion. So this means starting this Monday, along with the west end of the station going into service being completed, will the elevator be in service? It's actually a few months behind schedule... The elevator won't be open unt...

Re: Railfan Harassment at Northport

Harassment...no, an overreaction on your part, yes. Just like you are free to film and take videos that include him in a public place, so is he. If you are doing nothing illegal, there's nothing to worry about. There's no need to continue shouting at him in the way you did. While you know that photo...

Re: LIRR42?

Perhaps some could expand on their definitions of "extreme." Expecting more out of something you pay money for doesn't really seem "extreme," but rather pretty natural. When fare increases continually exceed the rate of inflation, one would expect that with each additional rate hike you get somethin...

Re: LIRR42?

For those who were on The LIRR Today's mailing list, he sent out a message today saying his site is in "hibernation" due to health issues he's been having. He did say that he made the choice out of his own volition, and without the influence of any third-party (i.e. "scared off"), because he did not...

Concrete ties

Does anyone know what's with Metro-North's dislike of concrete ties? It seems that they are taking out concrete ties and putting wood ones back. Meanwhile, on the LIRR they're replacing wood ties with concrete ties. What gives?

I asked this question of the forum a few months ago here: http://www.railroad.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=63&t=153533" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; In that thread, Noel Weaver posted a similarly defensive response. I do not see one single reason why this information should be withhel...
