🚄 Advancing initial New Acela service; achieving key milestones for Amtrak Airo where the first trainset will be nearly fully built by the end of 2024 and prepared for testing; and selecting proposals to begin replacing Amtrak’s Long Distance fleet The new Acela/Airo will be "nearly" full...

Sounds like it was the City of New Orleans, I assume she was in coach, wonder if she was on the lower level and they only check the upper level for passengers left on board.

One of the beauties of rail travel and the beauty of high-frequency corridors like the NEC is that it's easy to add additional stops and not have all service stop there. I would say it wouldn't make a lot of sense to eliminate any of the stations on the NEC, but rather change what trains stop there....

Re: New "Ambus": Worcester - New Bedford - Providence

Efficient connecting services like this will definitely boost ridership and it's great for people to have multiple options when traveling from a place like Worcester to New York City, so if the commuter rail is having delays on the Worcester-Boston route, they can take a bus to Providence instead.

Such a short sighted move to anull it to Albany. Run it with locomotives at each end and have it turn at Plattsburgh or Rouses Point so NY state passengers still have a connection to upstate NY. Plattsburgh to Montreal is only 1'15" on the highway, could still run a bus to/from Montreal.

It's too bad they've closed it, but they closed the Sandwich Junction sandwich shop in Warwick, Rhode Island which was along a 150mph stretch for the Acela right near the Providence Airport.

Hopefully they'll be able to turn the Coast Starlight at Portland, although I doubt it.

This could definitely be a good thing, but could also be bad for any proposed new service. Imagine on the new New Orleans-Mobile route if CSX/NS had to negotiate with an entity like Brightline , the service might have never happened.

I wonder how close to Kingston the train was, guessing not that close since the train stops at Kingston and that gash appears to be from a high speed. Glad no one was hurt.

At least one has been preserved and shipped to the Northern Pacific Railway Museum up here in Toppenish, WA, although they didn't really have it on display last time I visited.

Too bad we couldn't have seen a WAS-PIT section run with a turn at PIT. Amtrak has the facilities in PIT to turn trains and at least would have left less passengers with a bad impression.

Looking to book a PDX-SEA trip in November on a Sunday, I'm pretty flexible on the time but want to catch one of the Talgo sets. Does the 504 train usually run with Talgos?

Watching the hearing on Youtube is very fascinating, I'm only 2 hours in to the 7 hour hearing but Thomas Crowley provided some very interesting testimony that really questions the validity of CSXs data. I'm convinced CSX created a fantasyland scenario of tons of trans running on the line that don't...
