Re: Wick Moorman out...Richard Anderson in...

While at this time I hold there are other industries out there with more contentious labor relations than railroads, if Mr. Anderson is able to establish fair and administrable agreements with employees to respect lines of authority rather than building the fiefdoms part and parcel of government ag...

Re: How Important Is A Cover Letter And Resume/CV For CP Rai

You are trying to get yourself recognized from the get go. A cover letter and resume can give you the opportuntity to single yourself out among the other candidates. As for a necktie during the interview process do what is right for you. If your personality fits wearing a necktie then by all means y...

Re: alcohol and the LIRR

The only problems with drunks were on New years eve, st patricks day, and of course the young adults traveling to and from the city on friday and saturday nights. The regular commuters with their monthlys were never really a problem, as far as alcohol goes. Most of the regulars had a drink or 2 to ...

Re: Explosion, fire in Harlem suspends New Haven Line servic

I'm surprised the media has not blamed Metro North for this. ... Given the circumstances behind the suspension, I doubt they'd do that - they're not that stupid. There will be second guessers demanding why it took so long to re-open the tracks. Also questioning why a full schedule cannot be impleme...

Try explaining that to the 4 families who lost loved ones. Also to the injured some
of whom will take a long time to recover with disabling injuries.

Re: How to fix weekend service on the New Haven

I forgot to mention this as well: Make Stamford a discharge only Westbound (NY bound) and a stop that receives passengers only Eastbound (New Haven bound). The train pulls into stamford and the doors are opened to allow the stamford passengers to discharge. What is your plan to prevent all the nyc ...

Re: LIRR Hiring Assistant Conductors!

i want to be a Railroad Conductor for Amtrak but this is a big start and huge leap to get where i need to go and finally i could start in the travel and transportation industires, i don't mind starting out with the MTA LIRR. Re: Westport Ticket Window Closes, Jim Cameron comments

Mr. Cameron should have used better discretion in his comments. All he has to say is with the need to cut costs Metro North has to make necessary cuts in staffing levels at some ticket windows. To make comments about service levels at the ticket windows seems like a cheap shot. Those customers who u...

Re: au contrair (sic;?)

Au contrair (sic; ?). A TVM machine in designated cars is definitely not out of the question. Ridding of conductors and ticket collectors is rediculous. If you make it simple enough, and enforce the rules, then it will work. Impossible you say? A man on the moon, that's impossible. Number of TVM's ...

Happy 25th Birthday MN!! To quote an old TV slogan. ................. "you've come a long way baby!!" Does anyone remember how bad things were when MN statred in 1983? On time performance was in the 80s, ridership was at all time lows and GCT was a mess. Thanks to the investment of coutless billion...

When a station's ticket office it closed it does not mean another ticket seller's position is opened in GCT to handle the increase in sales. Lines in GCT during peak hours can be very long. Customers would be better served by increasing sellers in GCT as the smaller stations shut down. More windows ...

Does the next conductor usually buy your story? When I tried calling this afternoon, my call got dropped. I'm thinking I'll just see how it goes, and complain at GCT if there's a problem (where I understand the agents have more authority than at the regular train stations). GCT agents do not have a...
