Steam Locomotives - Circa 1900

These photos come from the collection of Harold K. Vollrath. Mr. Vollrath has an extensive collection of railroad photographs of all Class 1 railroads up to the 1940s. While most of his collection is of steam power, it also includes diesels, equipment and structures. He also has photographs of short line, logging, and industrial roads.

Engine Number 7, ready to leave on the southbound train from Dunkirk, NY in 1872. Built by Brooks in 1872 for the Warren & Venango Railroad which was consolidated into the DAV&P that year.

Built by Rome in 1887. Originally Grand Central Station 1; later used on the NYC&HR; was Number 51 on the DAV&P roster, September 1907.
