No one really liked the LRV's. They were a maintance nightmere and broke down a lot. It costed a lot of money to keep them running. So, yeah. There will be a celebration to celebrate the death of the last LRV.

My 1st time going on a green line train was on a Boeing train in the early 80s and it was on a D train. So I'll say that I'll miss the Boeings. For the most part, they were always a smooth ride on the D line.

Thanks for this info,

I'm planning on attending on Thursday.

Love them or hate them this is the end of an era in Boston transit, and they will be missed if only for the variety they gave to the Green Line!

I'm hoping the MBTA magically approves my photo permit request in the next say...24 hours as I plan to be there if at all possible.

I don't have an active photo permit, but as long as there are other railfans there, which I suspect there will be, and some of whom "know people" you should be fine. These things are ususally somewhat known among operators, so they'll know what you're taking photos of.

Good luck,

I'll be there bright and early, and I will be playing the role of the bum in the rear corner, with a coffee cup collecting spare change, which of course will go to the car I am trying to save... :P

I'm pissed. I waited almost an hour and a half today for it.
