3(28) will be down an hour into Kansas City account some car tonk failing to inspect the wheel sets in Chicago before signing the train out of the coach yard.

We've just done the ten mile run at 50 MPH, and now T&E are on the ground inspecting the offending truck.

449, 29 and 30 (28th) all lost a ton of time around Toledo. And anyone making the transfer from 30 to 42 in PGH missed the connection by about 30 minutes. Any idea what was going on?

Cresent 20, 9 hours 3 minutes late at Danville and 19 nearly 4 hours late at Atlanta. This used to be a proud train that nearly always ran on time. It's a shame to see the depths to which it has fallen.

DGVR: I think that #19 and #20 have been affected by Tropical Storm Alberto's remnants in VA
and NC causing major damage from flooding...In this case better late than never...

Did we get some flooding north of Washington DC? There was a concern of washouts down there killing service.

I was on Crescent #19 heading through Maryland yesterday afternoon, and some rivers were no exaggeration probably 8 feet above their banks. We ran through a section where the tracks were in water just north of DC, and it decoupled an air hose between two cars. We were stopped for about 30 min as they fixed the problem and inspected all the cars. But on glancing at the timetable at DC Union Stn, none of the NE regionals behind us seem to have been affected any worse, and miraculously (for the horrible OTP performance of the Crescent) I actually made it into Atlanta 20 min early this morning!

On #29, track repairs between Martinsburg and "a point just east of Harper's Ferry". Trains are single-tracking and I won't be surprised if a freight with haz-mats broke down in single-track territory.

EDIT: Going through MARC train notices for the Brunswick line for the time. A freight broke down in front of #29 (12), and MARC 875 was behind it (followed by 879 and 881). Passengers on 879 and 881 going into WV probably got on the regular bus from there to all stations beyond. 875 was probably rescued at Harper's Ferry by bus.

5(16) hasn't gotten to Galesburg and it's already down two hours.
3(16), ditto (right now it's basically following 5 at block separation) and it's down over an hour...

Any ideas?

29 has been late leaving WAS the past couple of days. Late turn of equipment or what?
Frequently it and 449 pretty much follow each other by 10 or 15 minutes once they get west of Toldeo.
Good for pix I imagine. Not so good for the riders.
