QG GP40 3102
GP40 3004
QG SD40U 6904
GP40-2 3047
QG GP40 3105
6 hi-cube boxcars
6 boxcars
5 covered hoppers
5 NaClO3 hoppers

After pulling 12 empty centerbeam flats from RCP, they tied their train down in the yard.

Hello,
A slightly later (but earlier than both trains earlier this week) SLQ westbound 393 departed Island Pond at 0903 with the following:

GP40-2 3007
RM-1 804
GP40-3 3804
3 centerbeam flats
11 salt hoppers
4 NaClO3 hoppers
12 covered hoppers
13 tank cars
14 propane cars
3 boxcars
15 hi-cube boxcars

That's 75 cars total, including 15 loads and 60 empties. With only two powered locomotives, they were pulling hard as the climbed out of Island Pond to begin their journey north to Richmond.

Here's links to two photos of this train:

Shortest train I can ever remember reading about ...

In better news the three year plan for Maine DOT shows funding for 286K conversion for two SLR bridges requiring uprates. One is Mechanic Falls and the other I believe was in Bethel.

Yes, those bridges have been on the 3 year plan for at least a year, maybe more.

Hello,
Unfortunately, I don't have a "full" report on today's SLQ 393, as I had to leave for a meeting before the crew even boarded the train in Island Pond. However, I did want to mention that today's westbound had, among other cars, a 5-unit spine car single-stacked with blue Eimskip containers. This is the first time I have seen these loads on SLR, and I am not sure where they were loaded, where they were going, or what they were carrying. I just thought this might be of interest to some.
Have a good night,
Fritz

A few years ago they talked about using SLR for Eimskip traffic because SLR has double stack clearance, and MDOT said they were going to remove the little bridge over Cassidy Point Drive and then PAR would have double stack clearance from the IM yard to Danville Junction. I've wondered if they still plan to make that happen at some point, or not...

Cassidy Point Drive is in the 3 year plan along with major improvements to the Yard 8 wye (new 150lb rail).

150?!

Any special reason for such heavy rail?
