Your so right that what you saw has nothing to do with the "current problem", the engineers cab is basically a few false walls installed inside the shell of the car, the car didn't warp to create the gaps, the shoddy internal build quality is what caused it, it shouldn't happen but with everything we've seen so far are you surprised, the door frame is flimsy the walls for the cab area are thin, 100mph shaking everything around and stuff moves, a solid build like the old cars and you don't see these "shortcuts"

An article in philly.com today that SEPTA is putting forged beams in 33 cars - it sounds like they never have had the plate beams with the feet attached with pins on those cars. Hard to think SEPTA was down 33 cars the past few months - maybe the have been keeping some of the loaners?

So a afew months ago when some were arguing about whether the repair job was going to be forged beams and some for the plate beams, I guess both sides were right

They have indeed been keeping some of the loaners - I think they have about 18 MARC cars left. The balance is probably from lowered shop counts, shortened consists, etc.

The SL-Vs are back in service. The MARC cars were back in Maryland, but they are now on their way to New York as loaners for the LIRR.

LIRR has leased a 5 car set,4 coaches and 1 cab car,"topped and tailed" by a pair of DE's
MARC will not allow Cab Signal mods on the Cab car this year.
