Reviving the dead thread...

Article from Boston magazine about the final weeks leading up to the transition:

(And no, I'm not sure what they mean by polishing the metal passenger bases, but whatever...)

You expected their PR people to say something different? ;-)

I note with interest that "Mac Daniel" is quoted as the spokesperson for Keolis. I assume this is the same Mac Daniel who was the transportation beat reporter and editor of "Starts and Stops" for the Boston Globe some years ago. His writing and analysis, at that time, were excellent.

He was great. Eric, who followed him was also good (and got promoted by the Globe). The current writer seems to write, but is nonresponsive to inquiries and doesn't really say anything new.

Well transition day is here. Keolis is out in force at north station handing out brochures. No other obvious changes. Station signage that previously had the MBCR logo on it does not appear to have been changed.

Same was at South Station this morning. Customer service vests greeted passengers at the end of the platforms. Few signage changes schedule wise along my journey this morning, but still much signage to change. Very smooth train wise, regarding paper work for the locomotives and air brakes etc.

I didn't look all through the station, but I did notice some of the signage was missing in places. Seems like the easy to remove stuff was gone, but the decals in places were still there.

I guess they didn't get an early start - no one there to greet passengers off the early trains (before 7 am)! ;-)

How are the odds that some or all of the "easy to remove" stuff
is already residing in someone's garage or rumpus room?

I was looking for someone else and found this document on the MBTA's website. I thought I'd share it here. It is a summary of the MBTA's commuter rail operations, presumably as information for potential bidders as it's in the "Bidding and Solicitations" directory. It appears to be a few years old (2011 maybe?)

I know it must have been going on in all affected places since Day One of the New Order of Things, but ~0625/07-07-2014 was the first time I was in the right place and at the right time to hear 408 precede its protocol transmissions for brake set, brake release and brake okay with the phrase "Keolis Train ..." My first adjustment was to hit the "Learn Spelling" option. My second is the ongoing process of getting used to the phrase.

Forgive the"dumb" question,Is Keolis going to get new Reporting Marks or will the FRA transfer the MBCR marks
to them? Or does everything revert to MBTX marks?
