Some photos I took in 2011, the last time I was there, when there were a couple of unfamiliar passenger coaches labeled Copper King Express sitting in Honesdale:

Not the best quality (understatement <g>) but here is a video I took on a NARCOA speeder run some years ago. http://w2kb.home.comcast.net/~w2kb/Spee ... %20med.wmv

Here's the wooden boarding platform that was constructed in Hawley a few years ago:

If the line ever reopens, so will the thread.

Historian who 'couldn't say no' dies at 91

Clinton H. Leet, the founder of the Stourbridge Line Rail Excursions and whose inspiration led to the creation of the D&H Lock 31 Canal Park in Palmyra Township (Wayne County), died November 17th. He was 91.

I have to ask, but where does the ownership of the Stourbridge Line's equipment currently lie?

Far as I know the line remains dormant. I plan to walk sections of it this spring.

M&E to Honesdale PA?

Postby Snowmojoe » Sun Apr 20, 2014 11:08 pm

Is it still physically possible for the M&E to get from Morristown to Honesdale? If so, how would you do it? I guess you must have to use the tracks that hug the Delaware River and then the Lackawaxen through Hawley and up into Honesdale? I was in Honesdale and Hawley today and I was trying to figure out how this works out.

Trying to follow that line on Google Maps it looks like it heads north after crossing the Delaware and then goes through the Otisville tunnel?

I also heard it is up for sale, I think this is a sign of abandonment. That would really suck.

Maybe NJ Transit could buy it for future Honesdale - Port Jervis - Hoboken commuter service!

You probably can't see it but things have been happening despite the naysayers here and elsewhere. If you have the best of intentions for the railroad then be a supporter when the time comes, it will need your help. In the mean time, think good thoughts. A real comeback will likely need volunteers due to the overwhelming costs involved. The economy of the region has been hurt by the loss of "our train" and some really wonderful people are trying to help it return, not because it's their job but because it's their passion.

On another note: if you or someone you know stole the number board from the 22, please return it. Treasure hunting certainly isn't helping the railroad or the owner of the GP7.
