Where will the Winthrop bus routes be terminated when OH closes, Wood Island or Suffolk Downs? Wood Island has the busway capacity...

Wood Island seems like the logical choice, though Suffolk Downs is closer.

It was reported in the local paper that it will be Wood Island.

Visited the station last week - very strange to see one half of the old station almost untouched (but decrepit nonetheless) and the other half under construction with narrow platforms in use.

Also, the east bus platform for the Winthrop buses has been cut back by about two-thirds and part of the busway is being used by construction crews, with only one bus at a time able to pass by. The MBTA busway on the west side also has to snake around the construction and has been cut back. The Paul Revere buses are unloading and loading in the west busway until 11:00 a.m. I remember the Rapid Transit Inc. buses operating over to this busway in the morning rush hour back in the 1980's as a customer convenience - I thought this practice had ended at some point but maybe I'm mistaken.

Construction on the outbound side, July 5th. The inbound side looks similar but I wasn't positioned to get pictures.

Has anybody heard anything regarding the reopening date for Orient Heights? The MBTA has consistently said "mid-October", which is quickly coming upon us. FWIW, the work seems to be going well. It doesn't seem like they are that far off.

The station is not opening until early 2014, which was noted in articles about the winner of the map contest. This will be the first station with the new MBTA map. Assembly Square will be second, when it opens in late 2014.

Not for nothing, but really...?

From the MBTA alert page:

Blue Line: Current

Orient Heights closed for construction through mid-October 2013

Completion has always been pegged at spring 2014, but everyday use of the station was always supposed to resume in Oct. 2013.

Orient Heights should be opening tomorrow (11/26) according to an alert sent out by the T.

Update: Orient Heights Station re-opening for customer use at the start of service Tuesday, November 26, 2013.

Customers utilizing Bus Routes 712/713 should please note that these routes will resume to schedules used prior to March 2013.

Another story about it. http://www.boston.com/yourtown/news/eas ... nth_c.html

Does anyone know if there was a ceremony?

As a daily Woods Island Rider, I can say we are all excited about this. :P

The station is open, but I don't think it's really anywhere near complete (haven't been through there lately). Ribbon cutting might be weeks off still, perhaps.

There indeed was a ribbon cutting ceremony a short time ago, per various tweets.

I'll be at the station for the first time later on this afternoon. From the outside streets looking in, it appears the station is basically complete from a passenger perspective. The only thing that seems to be missing are permanant signage, but some temporary signs (similar to the ones that were put up at State Street after the renovation, are in place for now.

It would appear the lionshare of the remaining work is in the operations building. However, that has been fully enclosed and framed out inside, so it would appear that "finish work" is commencing soon, along with some cosmetic exterior touches here and there.
