PRR DISASTER, HARRISBURG, 1905

Postby VA RAIL FAN » Mon Aug 25, 2008 7:00 pm

Does anyone have information about a passenger train that hit a derailed freight train in Harrisburg, PA, in May, 1905. Apparently dynamite exploded and many died and were injured.

Thanks in advance.

Something Didn't Add Up

I did a little researching and came up with the link below:

http://www3.gendisasters.com/pennsylvan ... C-may-1905.

The death toll, whiles substantial, falls far short of major Pensylvania rail accidents such as Camp Hill Moontgomery County (1856), Mud Run, near White Haven (1888), and Dawson, near Coonnelsville (1903).

It would appear thet the Times allowed itself to fall victim to local journalistic inaccuracy.
What a revoltin' development this is! (William Bendix)
