W&LE/Wabash at Toledo Union Station; 1904-1907

When George J Gould finished the Wabash-Pittsburgh Terminal RR, he decided to make a play for the 1904 St. Louis Fair passenger traffic. Using the other roads he controlled, the W&LE and Wabash, he had trains that were only 45 minutes slower than the PRR's direct PGH-StL route via the Panhandle. With the advent of the through service, the Wheeling moved from their Cherry St depot to the Toledo Union station. The passenger trains left the W&LE at Ironville and ran over the Toledo Belt to the LS&MS where they used trackage rights to get to the depot and hand off the through cars to the Wabash.

Can any of you advise if these W&LE/Wabash trains were shown in the LS&MS employee timetables? Was there a named tower for the junction between the Toledo Belt & Lake Shore? WJP

The W&LE Belt connected to the LS&MS @ Fassett St. Tower about 1'4-mile east of the Maumee River DB.
