Discussion relating to the NH and its subsidiaries (NYW&B, Union Freight Railroad, Connecticut Company, steamship lines, etc.). up until its 1969 inclusion into the Penn Central merger. This forum is also for the discussion of efforts to preserve former New Haven equipment, artifacts and its history. You may also wish to visit www.nhrhta.org for more information.

There are only so many memory cells in the cranium - and the do go south with regularity.

You need Dr Pookins magic formulae for memory retention and dyspepsia.

Malone, I do think you're right about the "Monon" F's actually being ex-MILW.

PINE TREE STATE had been owned by Piedmont-Carolinas Chapter NRHS and certified for private car service on Amtrak & Via Rail Canada, but a few years ago it was donated to the North Carolina Museum of Transportation. I believe the car's Amtrak/Via private car certification has lapsed, so it is currently limited to stationary display or moves around the museum trackage.

Here are three photos I took of the former NH tavern lounge obs that is "stuffed and mounted" alongside a bar & grill at Brookpark Ohio on 9/18/2014:

Here are five photos, presumably of the same car, taken by a friend sometime in the past, when it was stored at Orrville Ohio:

On a related note, heavyweight Pullman private car KITCHI GAMMI CLUB was re-trucked a few years ago with the six wheels trucks from a former NH Pullman Standard diner. I forget the name of the diner that became the truck donor. From personal experience, I can attest that KITCHI GAMMI CLUB rides smoothly on those rebuilt NH diner trucks at 110 MPH on Amtrak's Northeast Corridor.

Latest google map views show that the string of P-S cars in Orrville are gone:

For reference, bing maps still has a good view of them with their birds-eye view feature. The only other equipment that appears to have moved is the 0-6-0, which went to Age of Steam. The Orrville Railroad Heritage Society is supposed to be moving into this yard soon.

In other news, two of the cars that were on the Delaware Coast Line are now part of a restaurant in Ocean View, Delaware (I presume its them anyway, due to the proximity to their last location).
