E33 4601 (NH 300)

4601 has been sold (donated?) to the Illinois Railway Museum at Union IL. It will be cosmetically restored by NS at Altoona before going to Union.

Cosmetically restored in which colors- VGN, NH, PC or CR?

Saw it heading towards Gardner on the P&W at about 1300 today.

That's a damn shame they didn't choose the NH scheme; the other surviving one is in VGN paint, and the units did serve a significant amount of time in the Northeast. The NH paint is a pretty slick design, as well... but oh well. Still better than seeing it rot out in Old Saybrook. Sad I didn't get to see it leave the yard, though, they certainly got it out of there fast!

A couple of weeks ago I had to bring a train to Mohawk Yard, and stopped it in the Controlled Siding West. The motor was on the Glenville Stub, along with a couple of cripples. It was furthest in. Any word as to whether NS has taken it?
