I'm looking for a location of a 12/1973 wreck on the EL that involved #3632. I have a photo dated 12/12/73, not sure if it happened that day or the previous. No location. Google is not being helpful on this one.
Do you have a pic of the actual derailment? Not sure if this helps, here is #3632 (trailing) westbound at Kent, Ohio on Dec 11, 1973. http://www.railpictures.net/photo/575340/
I would say it sure looks like that area. My only hesitation, the river on the left would have to be Starrucca creek. From what I see, it appears to be a more substantial body of water than that creek. However, the way camera lenses distort perception, perhaps some recent heavy precipitation, and it being a very tiny slice of view, it very well may be Starrucca creek.
Starrucca Creek is too narrow and where it's next to the ROW the curves go the other way, except one spot a couple miles east of Lanesboro, just west of the Rte 1009 crossing. But the creek still looks too narrow to be that in the pic. I'd rather bet it's the Delaware Division someplace around Hale Eddy and Hancock. There are a couple of other limited possibilities a mile or three east of Great Bend, but that really looks like closer to Hale Eddy to me. Could be right about here https://www.google.com/maps/@42.0056969 ... a=!3m1!1e3.
