Where is Lehigh Summit PA?

Postby nydepot » Mon Oct 31, 2016 12:26 pm

There are many captions to photos and videos of Lehigh Summit on the DL&W east of Scranton. I did find one post where a person was adamant that Lehigh Summit never existed, extremely adamant, in any DL&W docs.

But thanks to Google, I can find Lehigh Summit in DL&W annual reports and other documents at least in the mid-late 1800s through the 1940s.

Could someone provide a link to Google Maps where this road crossing is? Thanks.

The Delaware Lackawanna & Western Railroad Company Time Table 106 in effect 2:01 A.M. September 26, 1954 page 104, Scranton Division lists Lehigh as a station, MP 114.70 (Scranton is MP 133.17).

Lehigh, located on the former DL&W compass south and east of Scranton shows on page 43 of the DeLorme Atlas & Gazetteer for Pennsylvania 11th Edition, Second Printing, 2009.

Lehigh and Lehigh Summit could possibly be one and the same but no guarantee this is fact.
