NJT Geep Paint Schemes

Postby liftedjeep » Wed Nov 08, 2017 11:30 pm

This topic was sort of touched upon recently on a separate, unrelated thread.
Basically, I shared a recent picture that I took of GP40PH-2B #4213 in which I made light of the fact that #4213 sports the "non-traditional Disco Striping" paint scheme:

It was then noted by another member that NJT #4205 also sports the same livery:

To my knowledge, no other GP40PH-2B's on NJT's roster have this particular paint scheme, but rather the "traditional Disco Stripes":

Now, to my question....
Does anyone out there with more knowledge than myself know why ONLY these two GP40s sport this certain paint scheme? Why have no others been painted in this fashion?
Thank you in advance!
Ben

Believe these 2 GP40 H's were repainted when they were shopped at MMC to what could be called the second gen version of the "Disco Stripes"
matching the Pl-42's and the ALP-46's factory "fresh" second gen "Disco Stripes" scheme.
Believe the other "re-manufactured" GP40's after loosing the HEP Gen-set,will wind up with second gen "Disco Stripes".

4213 and 4205 got the new paint when they were sent out to AMP in Danville, NY for rebuild. Only 4213 remains in passenger service.
Other geeps have already had their HEP sets removed/rebuilt for work service and have received disco stripe paint. 4103/4104/4106 are three recent examples.
