According to this article,
......A new train station would give residents a roughly 25-minute ride into Manhattan. An NJ Transit spokesman said Wednesday that the contractor is in the process of submitting plans to the agency and the project engineer for review and approval, a process that is expected to take a few months.

Nope and some progress has actually been made that the eye can see. it appears as if they have moved the main tracks because new tracks have been put down along side the two main tracks. ( could be an optical illusion too) Also there are signs at each end saying construction zone or something along those lines. I don't ride the Bergen line everyday but I'd say in the last month 7-8 times I did they were out working on the area. They also appear to be clearing some of the surrounding area. So work is definitely being done very slowly however.

I will try and take pictures next time I ride early next week...

So the third rail being put in next to the dairy plant is due to the station construction? I thought it might've been a new rail entrance to the plant.

I actually take the BCL every day and leave west of the station. For me, nothing good will come out from this stop. It will increase my commute that is long already by probably about 5 minutes.

Anyone know if express trains will stop there?

According to media reports the dairy will close soon. They haven't had a covered hopper in there for a couple of weeks; usually there always was a car there.

Station Platform is up and the canopy is being constructed....

Is Spring 2015 a good guess for an opening date?

I've noticed that work on the parking lot and apartments to be constructed has yet to commence....

Late 2015 is planned.

As for the apartments:

Ingerman breaks ground on $27.6M affordable apartment complex in Wood-Ridge

Development firm Ingerman broke ground Wednesday on a 104-unit affordable apartment complex in Wood-Ridge, marking the start of another piece of the 70-acre redevelopment project known as Wesmont Station.

The $27.6 million Ingerman project, which spans three buildings, will put residents about 25 minutes by train from Manhattan thanks to the new NJ Transit rail station being constructed nearby. And it will make up part of a new pedestrian-friendly, mixed-use community that includes nearly 1,200 homes and 27,000 square feet of retail space.

Executives with the Cherry Hill-based developer joined state and local officials for a groundbreaking ceremony Wednesday. According to the state Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency, the project will generate 262 jobs during construction and 28 permanent jobs upon completion.

The third track is being installed because the new station will be a center island style platform. The existing "Track 2" will be removed to make room for the new construction. As for delaying your commute, Probably not. Do not be surprised if you see Garfield go the way of Great Notch.

I believe that was done months ago. The train goes by right along the center island platform.

I occasionally ride a local home to Radburn and I have a few fellow commuters who I'm friendly with who get off in Garfield and they were informed that once Westmont opens Garfield will be closed. Not sure by who but next time I ride the local (which is rare because usually I'm out of Wayne-23) I will ask what their source was.

These three stations are not all that close to each other. I'd be pretty ticked off if they took away a station that was walking distance from me (I guess they already did by fencing off Teterboro, though my friend lives over there, not me).

I am kind of curious if that Garfield closure rumour is true, what the effect might be on downtown Garfield. It takes me a good 10 minutes between GAR and PLV by bicycle, I only hate to imagine walking that. It's not exactly like Plauderville is in the middle of Garfield or in downtown.

Maybe Garfield or Wood-Ridge would pony up the money for a jitney from Wesmont to downtown Garfield or persuade NJ Transit to establish a bus line, neither of which I think would happen.

The utter lack of maintenance and improvement at Garfield indicates that it has been in the process of "Great Notching" for years now. No parking. I haven't been through in a while, but does it still have the old style station signs? If they haven't even done that, the days are numbered.

They've also cut service to Garfield a few of the rush-hour trains simply skip Garfield. Just like Great Notch, it's an underhanded way of getting rid of a station.

Speaking of Great Notch, not sure how true this is, but someone who works for NJT told me that there was a group of 10-15 people that were going to all hold hands and stand on the track refusing to let the train go by the day after they shut down Great Notch station.

Obviously it didn't' happen because that would've been in the news, but has anyone else heard about that?

All that would have done was get somebody killed. If it was true (most likely false) then whoever came up with the idea should be doing brain surgery.
