Commuter Rail Uniforms

Postby enterprise11 » Sun Jul 15, 2012 9:32 pm

Have the conductors on the commuter rail always worn the blue uniform shirts, or was it a different color/style when it was run by Amtrak?

The uniforms under Amtrak are almost the same as they are now. For a short time MBCR branded the blue short sleeve shirts with a logo. MBCR has added a few jacket options, where Amtrak only used a sport coat or a trench coat. I am not sure when the blue shirts were introduced.

The blue shirts were introduced approximately 2 or 3 months ago......and are optional.

Besides the tie, you guys (CR conductors) can totally pass off as Shore Line East conductors! The uniforms are almost identical.

The blue shirt was introduced by the Boston & Maine in 1976, and we've worn them since, through two company changes.

I should probably mention the MBCR baseball caps with the company logo on them are pretty much obselete now, according to a trainman I know on the North Side.

The baseball cap was never part of the uniform. They were never supposed to be worn in performance of duty, only on breaks. Because they were so abused, they stopped providing them.
