It requires a bit of running, but then again so does catching the SL1 when it's already at the stop. Massport made a huge mistake placing stops at the far end of each terminal, but it at least lets me see when it's around the bend at Terminal C looking from Terminal E.

MassDOT and Massport have hinted at changes to come to Logan. That includes a unified shuttle bus system (new rental center + Blue Line) whose stops are co-located with the Silver Line. That helps the Blue Line, too - the current numbering system for the shuttles is highly confusing, and since the new shuttles would presumably also be integrated into the Next Bus sign, it would give passengers a better choice.

The next bus signs at the airport are cycling through saying "Board the Silver Line here for free, courtesy of Massport." The Silver Line buses are alternating between the route number and "Free" on the side destination signs.
"The destination of this train is [BEEP BEEP]" -announcement on an Ashmont train.

It's been 3 months since June 5th. Is the Silver Line still free from the airport?

They just announced an extension of the free period.

Anyone have any more details than this (a quote from a WBZ contributor)
Massport told the MBTA that they will continue the free Silver Line service from Logan to South Station. Massport could not provide year-to-year figures to measure the success of this effort.
