Note:did not go into detail for CSX because I only listed what area does Commuter Operations since this is on the MBTA Forum :-)

Also, I did not list North Side operations because I do not know all of them off the top of my head and will have to refer to a timetable when I get a chance, unless GP40MC-1118 posts that info before hand.

Northside DS Territories

Postby GP40MC1118 » Sat Jan 01, 2005 10:57 pm

Snoozer basically answered for me. However, there are different territory changes in the Terminal area:

Boston Valley TD:
Monday through Friday 7AM-11PM Tower A Interlocking(exclusive) to
CPW-WJ (exclusive). The Valley controls FX, Reading Jct and Fells.

Boston East TD:
Reading Jct (exclusive) to Newburyport & Gloucester Branch
11PM-7AM Daily Western Route mainline Fells (exclusive) to CPW-WJ
(exclusive).
The entire Boston West district Saturday 1201AM to Monday 7AM unless
extra dispatchers are brought in for the West desk.

Terminal TD:
North Station to W.Cambridge (exclusive), to Somerville Jct (exclusive)
to Fells (inclusive), to Reading Jct/Eastern Route (inclusive).
Monday through Friday, territory cutback when Valley job is staffed (see
above).

It should be noted that Guilford District #2 has authority for ST branches
in the MBTA commuter zone. District #3 gets to mess with the Watertown
Branch.

Also, CSX's Grand Jct Branch is controlled by the Beacon Park yardmaster.

A couple of minute nits here: I believe that the Old Colony DS controls all the way to Bay. (My timetable is at work.) And don't forget about the Plymouth and Kingston Branches. That desk used to control the Capeway, but that was returned to CSX.

And the Needham Branch extends from west limit of Plains on Track 5.

More nits to pick: The Boston West only controls to CPF-BY (exclusive). District 2 controls the Bleachery west through the station.

Yes, you are correct. I forgot about track 5 when typing the list.

As for the Kingston & PLymouth branches, I admit that I forgot all about them, I was pressed for time when I posted all that info.

We'll give you a pass on that because there is no freight on them.
