Merry Christmas and amen Steve. Rip FFs John Davies and James Rice. God bless all service men and women around the globe.
I hope to see that Peabody does the funeral right like Worcester did. John Davies firehouse was on or near the cold storage fire site which was his first major fire, that is truly amazing. Have a good holiday and a happy new year minus snow. :)

Chicago and New York put out a "Holiday Train" which is a really nice touch. New York's tends to be a vintage set from their Transit Museum and Chicago's is modern vintage, ablaze with colored lights. It's nice for families to be able to go out and have a Christmas experience like this, especially now since the world is so disgustingly vanilla so as to not "offend" and many Christmas displays are no longer. I'd love to see the T throw together something like this. It sure would be a beauty rolling over the Longfellow Bridge in snow !

Paul: That CTA Holiday Train video covers the Midway and Ravenswood Lines respectively using their "given" names...

I agree that having a Holiday Train no matter where it may be is a nice Holiday touch!

Merry Christmas Everyone and may 2012 be a good year for all !

It was just one person acting alone, and they could be fired.

What's wrong with management? Those signs never display any useful information. Now we know how easy it would be for someone to type in something useful, like delays and detour information. They should give that dispatcher a medal.

Well I hope that whoever lashes out the discipline takes this with a grain of salt, verbal warning no paper record if its possible,and recognizes that the positive out weights the negative.Ah , the humanity from a robot !

I just sent the following to the MBTA using their feedback form:

To the MBTA management:

The anonymous MBTA employee who programmed the Park Street sign to play "Deck the Hall" yesterday deserves not discipline or termination, but commendation. Many other transit systems - New York and Chicago, in particular - have special holiday trains covered in lights than run their systems in December. Even Amtrak outfits the Downeaster with wreaths.

To tell this employee that their action - harmless, pushing no viewpoint save cheerfulness, and genuinely funny - is worthy of reprimand is a robotic and unreasonable reaction. I hope that the MBTA will have a laugh and move on rather than punishing this employee.

Sincerely,
~~~~
T Employee to be punished for Christmas Carol
Postby Mcoov » Mon Dec 26, 2011 10:55 pm
On 24/12, a T employee entered the lyrics of "Deck The Halls" into the Park Street PA system. Now he's to be reprimanded "for entering an unauthorized message into the customer information system."
(Source: WBZ-TV)
I can see both sides of the issue here, and personally, I think this ought to be a yearly tradition at Park Street now that its ruffled a few feathers.
"Secular Progressive" BowdoinStation is not. I thought the move was very thoughtful and respectful for the upcoming celebration of Christmas and the person who programmed it should not be have to face disciplinary action, IMHO. 'Tis the season.
