I don't remember red-colored Green Line PCC cars on the E Line. When did those last run?

I think the picture is just dark. That looks like the original orange-and-cream MTA colors...

Yeah those are the orginal MTA colors cream and orange. The 01100's are in the orange and grey. Before their final livery white and orange.
Farewell old friend thanks for the memories.

The top photo -- is that an RDC? Was that run by the New Haven or the Penn Central?

I'd say this was 1978-79, or a few years sooner.

Yes, the time period is likely in late 70s. I missed riding the Turbotrain by one week for a trip to New York with a group of fans, we didn't know it was coming out of service forever.

Turbo info

Postby ferroequinarchaeologist » Tue Mar 08, 2005 9:52 am

The Turbo Train, built by the Sikorsky Division of United Aircraft using Talgo patents for the cars, was in service in Canada and the US. For further info on the Turbo Train, see: http://www.sikorskyarchives.com/train.html

Why was the turbo taken out of service?

The photo still looks to me like a self-propelled single car. Where is the engine?
