MBTA CR Passengers can wait 12am-6 shift at South Station

Postby southstationtrack13 » Thu Dec 02, 2004 8:32 pm

It is now possible to wait in wee hours if you miss your last MBTA commuter train by siiting on bench at South Station just like Amtrak Passengers.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thank you for your email of November 13 regarding remaining in South
Station.

I have discussed the situation with the Amtrak Police Department. I
have been informed that unless there is an underlying circumstance,
i.e.
disorderly conduct or drunk, it is not the policy to eject passengers
with either Amtrak or MBTA tickets from South Station.

Sincerely,

Stephen A. Jones
Chief Transportation Officer
MBTA Commuter Rail

That's good, glad they can wait for such trains. Now how about would-be Amtrak Passengers, say, who are waiting for the 5:15 AM Acela Express to NYP and beyond? That would be nice if it applies to Amtrak passengers as well.

Although it IS nice to be able to wait on the bench if you miss the last train, you do realize that it's about 4-5 hours till the next one comes? If so, you're better off going home and coming back later.

Ok, I see the lack of logic in my last post, and realize that most likely you ARE trying to go home then. Well, I guess you have no choice but to wait out the hours then, unless you can afford a hotel.

Late night at South Station

Yes I go to events in Boston were I miss the last train,Oh yeah and sometimes I mixed up with a nice lady and dont want to say "Gota Go or I will miss my train!" The Deal with Amtrak was that AMTRAK passengers could sit late night in south station but not MBTA Commuter Rail Passengers. I have two homes one in Fitchburg and the other one in Worcester. There is no Peter Pan Bus service after 10:00 and only 4 buses a day To Fitchburg.
