Define too soon. It is a 2009 model. I don't find this failure out of the norm.

It may have been built in 2009, but the impression given was that 10 and 11 were not used (much) by the UTA and would therefore not have had much wear and tear on them upon entering service with the MBCR. How long should one expect a traction motor to last?
Trains don't run on schedules, son. They run on tracks.

as long as first water ingestion , be it snow or actual water.
any contamination like carbon dust from carbon brushes can put end to a traction motor at any time.
If Conductors are in charge, why are they promoted to be Engineer???

UTA 010 is on North Side. Saw her pulling my 275, grabbed my camera, and caught her back at Highlands on the 280 inbound from Reading.

010 seems to come north alot more than 011.

11 seems to do a lot of framingham locals and occassionally goes all the way to Worcester.

The 010 was at BET just this past Sunday. I was told it is just there for an inspection, but that was our guess.

The MBCR Twitter page said, "Loco 010 is a-ok! just wanted North Side passengers to know we are always looking for ways to improve service."

So I guess its just taking a little PR spin after it's inspection.

We had 010 on the Fitchburg Line today...it pulled #427, and looked mighty fine coming in to Kendal Green.

Small world, huh. I was on #427 today and after months of watching the Worcester Line I was quite surprised to see #010 pull into Waverly.

011 is back north. It had been on the R-car test set, but was in use this morning on a revenue run (307 OB from NS).

The 011 was used on the test train for one day only(the only day it has operated so far). It made it's revenue debut last Friday with HEP issues. It operated until last Tuesday when it died in North Station and had to be towed to BET. From the post above I can see it was put back on the road last night...
