That's the plan! I would be suprised if they used both on one set with the new CTCs as well.

UTA called; they want their units back. :-P

Speaking of UTA, I can't believe the MBTA didn't end up re-initiating talks about renting more units instead of going with the MARC clunkers!

They did! UTA changed their mind and took the lease options away. There was 7 units I think UTA wanted to lease and get back. In the end they choose to sell off two units that were never placed in service.

I was in Belmont today (Wednesday April 10) on Brighton St. when I rolled up to the level crossing with the gates down. I figured it would be a regular MBTA commuter train. Instead, it was an eastbound consist made up of several MBTA locomotives (one under power pulling the rest, one of which was an MP36), two Amtrak cars (one of which was NPCU), and a small gondola car tacked onto the end. It all happened so fast, I didn't get any numbers. I spent most of the seven seconds it took for the train to go by asking to myself, "What the hell is that?" I assume it was going to the BET. But were was it coming from? And why? I'm not sure if this is the right forum, but figured I'd ask if anyone had any insights. Thanks.

It was a South to North Side transfer. Due to the Grand Junction branch through Cambridge being out of service, movements are made via the Worcester Line that comes out in Ayer.

In theory, when the T was looking for lease locomotives, they would have planned to have returned them by now. The MPI order was supposed to be in delivery by now.

Going through my videos, I was wondering...

What kind of horn do these units have? They sound rather weird.
