MBTA Fan Site?

Postby Amtrakfan119 » Wed Aug 18, 2004 4:42 pm

I recall an excellent MBTA fan site, with photos and roster info. It has commuter rail, subway, bus, all of it. Each link was represented by a small picture of the equipment in question. Anyone have a link to it?

Are you talking about New England Transit? That's the only page i remember with all the stuff you described. If that's it the pics were removed when the roster page was re done now there are no pics next to the info just the info it self here is the link

Maybe so, but at least NETransit, if not all of them, is a good site for MBTA information.

If you have looked at the page before the roster info is the only thing that i have noticed so far that changed.

Yes. There used to be an image map with pictures of each type of equipment, and clicking on a picture of, say, a Red Line car would take you to a separate page with the Red Line equipment roster on it.

Months ago, Jonathan Belcher (the maintainer of that inventory) changed the site so that all equipment was on one page, with no pictures included. The online inventory is now pretty much in the same format as what Jonathan submits to Roll Sign magazine each year (although the information in the Roll Sign annual inventory issue also includes detailed summaries and footnotes that are not available online).

Not much has changed on the NETransit site in a few years... and some of the links are broken. It's hard to keep some of these larger sites fresh and current.
