The Green Line extension would go to Union Square (in Somerville), not Inman Square (in Cambridge). There are no rail rights-of-way anywhere near Inman Square.

Instead of building that expensive tunnel, I'd rather just branch the line -- one branch to Union Square along the Fitchburg Line, the other to West Medford along the Lowell Line.

Historically, Boston & Lowell stations along this line in Somerville were located at:

Washington Street (station had various names, "Milk Row" and "Prospect Hill")
Winter Hill (behind City Hall, at Gilman Square)
Somerville Junction (just west of Central Street)
North Somerville (Ball Square)

Oops, you're right. I don't know why I get Inman and Union mixed up.
