Looks like 3707 is being prepped to be sent to Alstom to be used as a parts source.

Only 6 3700s left now that 3715 has been pulled from service for the overhaul. Cars 3701 and 3704 have both received ad-wraps (for Lyft) so only 3700, 3708, 3710, and 3712 are in the teal scheme.

I noticed yesterday that one of the Type 8s (3812?) also received a Lyft ad wrap. To my best recollection, this is the first time a Type 8 has been wrapped. No, it doesn't make them look any better.

That’s correct. 3875 got the wrap also.

Happened to be in Hornell NY on Friday and got to see recent Type 7 rebuild 3682 being put through its paces on the quarter mile test track by Alstom personnel. Kind of like watching a Lionel bumper trolley but with a motorman at each end. Note that 3682 is missing its pantograph and instead is using a 3rd rail shoe and cabling up to the roof where the pan will be mounted. I'm guessing 3682 will be shrink wrapped and loaded on a goose neck trailer for shipping up to Boston soon. As an aside, the NS local shown in the final few seconds is picking up a recent MBTA double deck coach rebuild to begin the trek back to MBTA-land.

Wow, that is awesome! Nice catch!

Also, 3700 has been pulled from service to be prepped for Alstom. We're down to the final 5 3700s now: 3701, 3704, 3708, 3710, and 3712.

With 3647 back at Riverside, only 4 3600s are still at Alstom: 3609, 3674, 3682, and 3656, which had body damage prior to its overhaul. These 4 cars will likely all be back in service by the end of the summer. We’re getting close!

3712 has been pulled from service for overhaul leaving only 4 3700s left now. 3682 has also returned from Alstom and 3620 has entered service as well as 3694.

Question.

Are the Greenline cars that are not Handicap accessible / have the steps up at every door the last remaining Type 7's that have not been overhauled or are they a different type of GL car?

I got on one of those GL Cars on Saturday and was surprised to see it built / laid out like that.

That’s the Type 8s in a consist, that have level boarding with a platform edge for a portion of the car. Needed I n case a station doesn’t have a mini high platform or lift for ADA accessibility.

So the rebuilt type 7's still don't have that are area for level boarding? Have I always just landed on a type 8 by chance?

If most of your riding is on nights and weekends (if you typically see single cars) then it's likely you only see Type 8s. Type 7s, whether rebuilt or not, are not mistakable with type 8s. Aside from the paint scheme and new interior lighting, most of the changes taking place in the rebuild are not generally noticeable.

Last week I caught an ultra rare double 7 on my ride home from Hynes. Just two overhauled 7s.

I noticed quite a few double 7s last week on Stefan's tracker. There will probably be even more soon when the rest of the Type 7s return from Alstom.
