Tracker list update, 7/31:

3616 (teal) now yanked from service for prep-to-ship to Alstom. 9 active non-rebuilds left in the 3600 series.

Just passed 3676 and 3653 testing on the D line. I'm currently on 3660, which is one of the last 9 original Type 7s remaining. Ride them while you can!

Per NETransit. . .

Stored wreck 3609 has been chosen for rebuild, and has begun prep-for-ship to Alstom to be remade into a new working car from pieces of other wreck victims. With that selection, Riverside's other wrecked 3600's--3602, 3630, 3650, and 3693--are now slated to be scrapped for parts (along with 3679, which has been at Alstom for the past year being harvested of its parts).

I wonder which 3 out of service 3700s they're going to overhaul. I'd have to guess 3702, 3711, and 3718

We're down to 8 original Type 7s in service now. 3681 is apparently out of service for the overhaul.

3681 was a new-paint unit. Remaining 8 rolling ruins consist of 2 original-paint survivors (3686, 3692), 2 new-paint non-rehabs (3660, 3694), and 4 puke-teals (3620, 3647, 3674, 3682).

Do the cars repainted prior to overhaul get repainted again as part of the work or do they keep their "old new" paint?

Yes. There's enough heavy body work involved in the rebuilds that every unit will get a full repaint.

Yeah, I saw 3678 yesterday and noticed it looked much shiner than it was before it went out to get overhauled.

Only 7 original 7s left in service. 3660 is out of service for the overhaul, which I just rode less than a week ago. 3694 is now the only newly painted original type 7 in service.

Also a couple milestones:

60 rebuilds are now in-service.
Only 20 non-rebuilds total are left in-service: original-paint 3686 & 3692; new-paint 3694; puke-teal 3620, 3647, 3674, 3682; and 13 3700's.

So 3686 takes the prize as the very last original-paint unit left in service. Get your photos while you can.
