Commuter rail will run SATURDAY schedule on Sunday, July 4

Postby Ron Newman » Wed Jun 23, 2004 2:48 pm

The MBTA will run all commuter rail lines on a SATURDAY schedule for Sunday, July 4th.

This could unpleasantly surprise some folks on the Fitchburg Line, whose Saturday and Sunday schedules are substantially different.

How about Monday the 5th...when they're actually celebrating it in many States?? Sadly, some businesses are too STUPID , or maybe Greedy, to close.

Not to get too far off topic, but it's been several years since most businesses closed on the 4th. I used to work in retail, and my store had been open on the 4th of July since at least 1999. I think the only thing that closes these days are banks, government offices, and small mom and pop stores.

They're running a Saturday commuter rail schedule on Sunday, July 4th.
They're running a Sunday schedule (of all services) on Monday, July 5th.

Here's the official press release.

If I ran a grocery store, I don't think I'd close it on the Fourth. Lots of folks are buying picnic supplies.
