NETransit hasn't updated to show that, and they're usually instantaneous with those updates. Still lists 8 on the property "awaiting sale for scrap", which would suggest they don't have a scrap buyer yet. One of the 8 is going to remain as a parts source for the work cars.

Thanks again for the advice, I was able to find the bulbs at my local hardware store and ordered the ballast online. Wired it up today and here is the result:

NETransit is temporarily off line. It will return, more than likely in a new home in the near future.

Page metadata says NETransit was last updated August 24. So I would assume if there's been no recent developments with those cars' status in the 1-1/2 months since last update they're still sitting in the Riverside dead line and don't yet have an fully signed agreement with a prospective scrap dealer.

They cut up one of the remaining boeings right in front of me, trust me the agreement was made with the scrap dealers.

That's the time to get them ! Congratulations ! Much rather see it go to you than some lawyer's office downtown as wall decoration.

Question about 3453

Postby MBTA3247 » Wed Oct 26, 2011 2:15 am

I've noticed that one set of doors on 3453 are still in the original Boeing LRV paint scheme, as illustrated here. Does anyone know if I'm correct in guessing that that pair of doors was salvaged from another Boeing that was scrapped a few years after 3453 was converted to MOW service after the original pair was broken or damaged beyond repair?

FYI, if anyone wants to photograph 3453, it's currently sitting at the south end of Riverside Yard, and only partially blocked from view by other equipment.

That car is looking in pretty rough shape. Looks something crashed into it. The doors are probably from the parts room at Riverside or Seashore.

Just found this video while poking around youtube. Someone has an LRV rollsign with new bulbs.
