Especially when they come up from Providence, turn onto the Middleboro Secondary at Attleboro, and head up to Boston from Middleboro.

Could be worse; they could be going to Wachusett instead ...

Just for laughs I scrolled through all the Alerts for this month to see if I noticed anything funny geographically.

While I didn't see anything on the wrong line, I did see almost every alert called the Newburyport / Rockport Lines something different.

I saw
  • Newburyport/Rockport
  • New/Rock
  • New/Rockport
  • Newbury Rock
  • Newbury/Rock
  • Newburyport
  • Rockport

I think Newbury Rock takes the cake. Do we have a new line?

Beginning to think that whom ever does the alerts and the tweets is not quite social media savy :P ,
or in need of a caffine IV at all times.

I'm somewhat surprised they never used my favorite - Rockburyport.

Second day in a row the 6:20 Stoughton train was cancelled and the 804 was forced to stop and Canton Junction and Hyde Park.

Looking like It's going to be a rough night on the Newburyport / Rockport lines
Rockport Train 115 (4:15p outbound) is terminated at Chelsea due to a mechanical issue. Passengers will take train 117 (5:00pm outbound).

Newburyport Train 167 (4:30 pm outbound) is stopped outside of North Station and is currently 10-20 minutes behind schedule.

Rockport Train 117 (5:00 pm outbound) will make all local stops today and is expected to operate behind schedule en route to Rockport.

Newburyport/Rockport Train 194 (5:35 pm inbound) has been cancelled today. Passengers can take Train 120 (5:48 pm from Beverly).

Newburyport/Rockport Train 193 (4:40p outbound) is cancelled. Passengers can take Train 117 (5p outbound) which will make all local stops.

Rockport Train 122 (5:45 pm inbound) is expected to depart Rockport 10-20 minutes behind schedule due to a mechanical issue.

Rockport Train 115 (4:15 pm from North Station) is operating 25-40 min behind schedule between Chelsea & Rockport due to a mechanical problem.

Newburyport Train 167 (4:30 pm outbound) is operating 20-30 minutes behind schedule between Chelsea and Newburyport.

I'm sure more delays / cancelations will be rolling in through the evening.

Third day in a row today that the 6:20 Stoughton train was cancelled. Keolis just doesn't care.

Of course they care! They also cancelled the first Fairmount and Framingham trains. There just aren't enough engines to make service. Lots of finger pointing to go around, but it's very sad.

I overheard the Worcester line dispatcher tell the crew of P504 that the south side was down 6 sets this AM (Wednesday 3/29/17). NFI ATT

Train 1103 died at Salem at the station, on the dreaded single-track section, sometime around 10:52. It's still there now (11:25).

Worse, the inbound 1102 is stuck waiting at Northey Point.

Even worse still, the inbound 1152 is coming up on Beverly and will shortly be in the mess also.

I predict there will be some doubling-up of the three sets to end up with one inbound to Boston including the dead set, and probably the set that is now 1152 being sent out to Rockport to resume the 1103 trip. We'll see.

Yep - looks like I may have called it right:

Here's a new one... 1102 is now reversing back from Northey Point back to Beverly to pick up the 1152 passengers!
