Don't know where the complaints are coming from. Unable to find anything in the
Cambridge newspaper about it. There was also whining about switching moves
at the Mass Ave end of the siding too.

Probably the few MIT students who aren't hooked up on Adderall trying to study for finals. In all seriousness though, what non-dorm residents are even near the Mass Ave end of the siding? Also, perhaps they could thank their Brickbottom buddies for displacing certain MOW activities.

Don't know about Mass Ave....You're right I think, don't know of any housing per say there..

Probably the resulting traffic congestion from the three switching moves across it.

Hopefully they're being stored properly so they can be rehabbed easily if there's another power shortage.

The considerably younger PHM-2C's are getting hit hard too. Right now it's 7 of the circa-'87-88 -2C's out for major engine repairs, and 3 of the circa-'91-93 PHM's out for major repair. That's the first time the casualties have hit double-digit units, so they're falling further and further behind the pace on repairs. To hear the employees tell it on other threads, the Geeps are in pretty abysmal shape overall. I imagine the current dead line makeup is chalked up to little more than dumb luck that the Geeps have somehow avoided the repair queue and bad luck that the -2C's have been hit extra-hard.

Something has to give here. Falling far behind pace on the long-term OOS backlog during spring harms their ability to catch up before summer heat's extra strain on HEP loads starts affecting uptime on the more brittle in-service units, dumping a new surge of day-to-day aches and pains on BET's lap. Maybe it's time to ring up P&W's shop for some outsource work if they're that short-staffed or short on shop space to be able to handle a taken-apart engine tying up a garage bay for weeks at a time.

The HSPs constantly tripping over their own shoelaces is not helping things very much either, what with the six count about a month ago having the HEP inverter trouble

The Welded Rail Train that's been stored at Beacon Park for a few weeks now will be
moving Thursday morning. OD6AM...Will be dumping rail around the MP6 area, then
return to Beacon Park.

Talk is this train moves Friday to the Northside with rail for the Woburn area (storeon
No.4 Track at Anderson RTC), then up around Frye (store on the dead track between
Frye and CPF-JK) with the remainder between Melrose and Reading (train will store on
the Reading Middle).

Are these all big northside rail replacement jobs scheduled after Worcester destressing is done, or is the work consist just moving from friend's couch to friend's couch to crash on while BET storage is in disarray?

Not sure what you are asking F Line. There is no place at BET that will fit a rail train without blocking crossings.

This CWR train will move directly from Beacon Park to Anderson RTC and stored on No.4 Track.
Then at some point they will dump the rail, then its one to the other locations as I stated.
As SERY pointed out, there is no place to store this train in the BET area without planking it
on a mainline, which we can no longer get away with.

Wow, the beginning of the end of the jointed rail on the Western Route? Is this the largest stretch of jointed rail left on the system?
Wondering if I'll see the Haverhill double-tracking finished before I retire...

Isn't there a long stretch of jointed rail on the Franklin Line? Also, if you count the Cape main for the Cape Flyer....

The Rail Train did not run today, but is running tomorrow. Going on duty at 6AM at Southampton St.
Power to Beacon Park, dump at MP6. Train returns to Beacon Park. NO word on coming to the Northside.

Stone Train for CP24-28 also running, but out of BET/Grand Jct. On duty 6AM and cabbing to BET.
This train will be returned to BET when down.

The beginning, yes. There is not enough rail on the train to do it all.

And, in answer to another post, there is no stick rail on the Franklin Branch unless you count the freight only trackage west of Forge Park.

Bunch of extras this weekend:

Welded Rail Train OD8AM Saturday Anderson RTC/Woburn. Dumps around Wilmington Jct
and Andover. Don't know where it'll put up, but rumor was the dead track between Frye
and JK. Is working Sunday too and may end up on the Reading Middle. Power is the 904/1066
and 31 cars. This train came over the Grand Jct around 2PM, then backed towards North
Station to go out the Lowell mainline at 3PM.

West Barnstable Evacuation Drill Extra OD6AM Saturday Middleboro.
Take train set to W. Barnstable for the drill and return.

Middleboro Extra Saturday OD7AM Southampton St. GP40MC 1119, MDOT 1056 and three
coaches (525-901-911) to Middleboro layover. Back lite engine.

Worcester Stone Train - Monday OD6AM Southampton St. Cabs to BET. Train is at BET with
the 3248-7 loads-Flanger

Welded Rail Train got off to a late start today after the 904 died. They cut the power off
and went to BET to get the 3247. They did eventually dump at Wilmington Jct and at Andover.
Put up in Lawrence tonight.

OD7AM Sunday. Crew cabs from BET to train. This may end up on the Reading Middle close
of work.
