Thanks for the correction. Would I be correct in stating that the screamers do not have operable cab signals? (whether removed, inoperable, or simply not activated)

EVERY locomotive and control car has cab signals, even the North Side 1600s. The only difference is none of the 1600s have ACSES(1649 had it's test unit removed). I have heard a few of the screamers having some ACSES units parted out but I cannot confirm this. The units are maintained, but not operated since we have no cabs North.

Did something happen within the past week? I believe I saw it running last Monday.

Everything must have went relatively on the Commuter Rail
for the parade on Saturday. I did not notice any "disaster"
reporting in the press. Any comments from train riders?

From my point of view, the service was handled much better than the Bruins 2011...I worked that one and was a nightmare on the trains. I was out of PVD yesterday morning with 8 K cars with the 010. We were full by Attleboro, told to xpress to Boston, with a double draft, 14 K cars and 2 loco's following, making the rest of the stops. Various Extra's running to 128, Canton Jct., Hyde Park, Readville, the Middleboro Main, and out to Franklin. I thought it was a great job by all yesterday Southside...of course a few hiccups here and there, but overall, good

Are extra sections added if the last scheduled train of the night can't carry everyone waiting on the platforms?
(To the theater stage manager) Quit twiddling the knob and flickering the lights while the audience is entering and being seated. (To the subway motorman) Quit twiddling the knob and dinging the doors while passengers are getting off and others are waiting to board.

For special events such as this they try to stage extra trains to be able to turn in the middle of a line and get the people that were skipped.
