The Trolley Song...on the Green Line!

Postby jscola30 » Sat Mar 16, 2013 9:52 pm

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OLPyQuBfI10 Who says the romance of the rails with modern trains is dead? I still can't believe the T let the band do this! Sorry if this has been posted here already. I think this is a great music video, love our two main charachters wearing some green. I'm a musician by trade and despite my young age, I love jazz and standards. I do prefer this song a little uptempo, but this is a nice arrangement. However, I think my favorite version of this song is this Tony Bennett version I just got the other day where the bell is used as an instrument http://www.myspace.com/tonybennett/musi ... n-28414547

The T will "let" you do many things if you have the money. You don't think the band had to pay for that?

(I'll edit with a less cynical observation - it is indeed a nice piece of music, and Jen Hirsh isn't tough to look at either.)

Very cool. The singer has a good voice for jazz, the band does a great swing accompaniment at the right volume, and the audio recording is right on. I was hoping she'd break into a little scat in the second chorus, but I'll take it. I still have to vote for the Judy Garland original as my favorite, 'though.

Would have been kinda neat if, in addition to the modern "trolleys", they had also worked a Type 5 into the song with it's authentic clangs, bells, buzzers, compressor chugs, motor hums and wheels sounds.

O I know they paid, but even if people pay, I just picture the T has this bureaucracy and ineptitude that when it comes to things it would make money on, it STILL won't go for them. I have a dream to own a private rail car and I can just imagine the talk with the T that even though I will be paying them money they STILL won't let me store it in the South Hampton Yards.

They weren't on a moving trolley. It can't cost too much for an hour or two of filming time time on a parked trolley at Riverside.

It was shot at Reservoir. At the beginning when they got on, you can see the closed Circle Cinemas through the door. Also, they deliberately overexposed the video so that you can't see out the windows.

They taped some sort of white drop cloth over the windows. You can see it taped on when the doors open.

They had filmed at resvoir yard! I had a picture on Facebook from April 3rd 2011, they had taped white paper to all the outside windows on the half of the car they were filming in.
