Vents @ Shaw's in Porter Square

Postby BostonUrbEx » Fri Feb 08, 2013 1:34 pm

Does anyone know if they vents at the Shaw's parking lot in Porter Square, Cambridge are related to the Red Line? I never noticed them until the other day. It sort of freaked me out. I mean, multi-ton vehicles are driving on some grates about 100 feet above the bottom of a pit?! Yikes!

They're probably vents for the station platforms.

Are these vents on the sidewalk, or the parking area? Rule is , never hop curb where there are vents, truck fall in ! The truck delivery for that Star or Shaws is on Davenport street.

The vents are in the parking lot. Even if the Shaw's trucks don't enter the parking lot, the CVS trucks do.

They are subway vents. You can hear trains and feel an updraft when they pass.
