BMore Light Rail shut down due to tree, power pole down

Postby STrRedWolf » Sat May 20, 2017 9:08 am

Well, this sucks during the Preakness.

Light Rail is shut down between North Avenue and Falls Road because of a tree and a power pole that fell on the tracks, cutting caternary power. The latter actually fell on a LR train! Photos taken by MTA: https://www.instagram.com/mtamaryland/

So:
  • Limited shuttle service between Falls Road and North Avenue.
  • Pimlico shuttle service moved to North Avenue LR and Rogers Avenue Metro.
I ride the (MTA Maryland) Penn Line (between Odenton and Baltimore). I used to work for MTA Maryland's IT department, and out of professional courtesy my responses may be limited. Wikimapia is wonderful (for track/interlocking locations)!

Is Light Rail using wood poles for the Catenary? :(
Or was the pole "bent" by the falling tree? :(

The pole is metal, but there was a power company pole (BG&E here) that broke.
