How did yellow line trains turn around at Gallery Pl in the 1980s?


They used the double crossover at the north end of L'Enfant Plaza. Trains began running through to use double crossover east of U Street two weeks prior to the opening of that station on 05 11 1991.

The same was done when the Blue line opened Between National Airport and Stadium -Armory on 07 01 1977. The double crossover east of Eastern Market was used as the pocket track in D&G Junction had not cleared acceptance testing. The pocket track in D&G Junction cleared acceptance testing and began being used, don't know the exact date, several months before the rest of the D Route to New Carrollton was ready for opening on 11 20 1978.
