Potomac Shores’ VRE station running behind schedule

VRE officials and local politicians gathered for a ceremonial groundbreaking in July 2014, targeting 2017 as the year VRE would be ready to start ferrying passengers along the I-95 corridor via the new station.

But as the new year dawns and construction on the rest of the development continues apace, it’s unclear when exactly trains may start rolling through Potomac Shores. State rail officials are now targeting 2018 for the full completion of the project, though there are few definitive answers available just yet.

“We don’t really know what the timeline will be,” said Paul Dean, a VRE spokesman
