I'm not making any monetary arguments on who or what if anyone should or could or would have bought them. What I am calling sad is that the cars will end up being razor blades.

I'll say it again. THAT is sad.

Just as an fyi-Oyster Bay RR Museum purchased #7433 from the scrapper who bought up the K&K.We fundraised to bring her home and after more fundraising with the first donation by Island Rail, we began the restoration hard in 2017 after putting a plan and the right people together.
Look at the LIRR forum under Preservation News for OBRM updates with photos.
The plan is for
1-removal of everything bolted on in the interior-completed
2-demolition of the entire floor-completed
3-removal of all windows/shades/facias-completed-windows undergoing restoration-ongoing
4-sandblasting of entire car-to be completed in April 2018
5-welding in new floor stiffeners-parts completed to be welded in after sandblasting of the car
6- welding in new corrugated steel floors then bolt on seat frames before pouring all new concrete

This is our 2018 plan
