I see in the legend at the bottom of the drawing "1. Hump Signal Controls." On the drawing above "Hump New 1928" is the symbol of a shanty marked 1; that would be it.

That actually seems more likely.

I'll concur, unless someone indicates otherwise. I searched my LIST Semaphores, but no info, BTW: http://www.trainsarefun.com/lirr/semaph ... aphore.htm

Anyone with a photo showing the Switchman's Cabin and the telltales just east of Honeywell Ave? Thanks.

Find it interesting the General Motors owns 7 acres of Sunnyside Yard.

That's Major World Chevy's Service center. While anything is possible I find it hard to believe that it is directly owned by GM.

I found a photo on your website. I’d say it was taken from the Honeywell Avenue bridge looking northeast towards the LIRR Yard A hump, on the left, with the PRR engine facility on the right. 3/28/1954.

Thanks, Jack! I forgot about that one! ;-) Now all we need is the Switchman's Cabin between the telltales and Honeywell Ave. :-)

Wasn't there a song in the 1930's, that went:

"Hump on the Sunnyside,
Always on the Sunnyside,
Hump of the Sunnyside of the yard..."

Wasn't that in "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou"?

Would that be the switchman's cabin by the next pole beyond the engine? It looks as though it might be beyond the telltales.

It is west of the telltales and east of Joneywell Location #2 on Emery/s 1958 map
